Our New Vicar

 

Our new vicar for the parish of Exning with Landwade starts on December 1st with an induction service that day at 7.30p.m. in St Martin’s at Exning.

 

There will be a very full congregation at this welcoming service because we all know her… it is Joyce Williams, who has been our curate for the last 3 years.

 

Joyce and Ben will be moving from the curacy house on the road out to Burwell into the Vicarage at New River Green. They will be bring with them their existing phone number 577825 and the same email address joyfulwilliams2004@yahoo.co.uk

 

This email address says almost everything there is to say about Joyce as she goes about serving the Lord Jesus Christ in her ministry, because she is joyful and full of care, consideration and love for other people. She is already very well known to the children in the parish, as she is often in their schools. I hope you may wish to meet her too.

 

I am very confident that Joyce would love to meet you, be it in the street, in one of the shops or in the church. She would love to be invited to visit you or one of your neighbours who you know might appreciate a visit. All you need to do is call or email her.

November Highlights

Text Box: Songs of Praise is on Monday 3rd November at 2.30p.m. at St Philip w St Etheldreda. Leading the short, informal worship will be Marion Roberts who will be thinking about ‘Closeness’. The service not only consists of readings and prayers BUT singing a good number of well known hymns. Tea, cake & fellowship to follow! Need a lift? Text Box: Just Jackets! – Not any old jackets – jacket potatoes. A get-together at St Philip w St Etheldreda on Saturday 8th November from 12 to 2! Drop in any time but we would like to have an idea in advance of how many we are catering for. Tickets cost £2 for baked potato with filling & a hot drink. Text Box: Remembrance Sunday is on 9th November. We usually start at the War Memorial in Exning at 10.45a.m. for the Act of Remembrance. After the silence we process back to St Martin’s for the service. Those in the congregation who find it difficult to process remain in St Martin’s and then we all join together. Bereavement Sunday is on 16th November. If there is someone that you would like remembered on this day, please sign the list at the back of both churches or alternatively, contact Ann (the administrator). Advent Sunday is on 30th November – the beginning of the Church’s year. At the 11a.m. service at St Martin’s, we will be launching ‘Godly Play’. A special room has been set aside in the hall for this work with children – come along and see what it’s all about!
